RFID Drives Water Delivery Service

Spring Water on Tap, together with AT&T, has developed an RFID solution to monitor water levels for Spring Water’s drinking water delivery customers.

Instead of wasting time and resources driving a regular route to check on the tanks’ water levels, this RFID application issues an alert for delivery (through AT&T’s wireless network) when the sensor reports that a refill is needed.

GPS and GPRS devices are integrated with separate water-level sensors to gather and report the data.

As RFIDupdate.com reports in their recent article, brand new company Spring Water on Tap is using the RFID technology for a competitive edge. Through unobtrusively monitoring customers’ water tanks and facilitating efficient delivery scheduling – both the customer and the company benefit from the application.

One thousand of the sensor-enhanced tanks are scheduled to be installed by the end of the year in the Atlanta area, and the company predicts another 6,000 will be needed for other cities it intends to service, including Houston, Miami and New Orleans.
