War Dialing

Dynamic’s War Dialing service assesses the ability of would-be hackers to penetrate your network through modems and other telephonic-connected devices through the standard public switched telephone network (PSTN). Sometimes referred to as Demon Dialing or War Scanning, the process also looks for unauthorized ‘rogue’ modems within the environment.

Modems can provide easy entry into a company’s internal systems. A hacker either dials random numbers or uses a war dialer to scan all lines under a company’s main phone number prefix to determine what type of connectivity each line has – to a person or to a fax machine, for example. By listening to the kind of activity on individual lines, the would-be hacker can identify a potential point of entry to network systems.

Dynamic’s War Dialing assessment is done on-site and requires limited staff time. Dynamic’s report will identify the vulnerabilities associated with your company’s dial-up capabilities and recommend ways to mitigate them.
